Project Abstract The wheelchair is one of the most commonly used assistive devices for enhancing and enabling personal mobility. Enhancing a wheelchair needs is an essential tool to enjoy vastly improved health, social and lifestyle for people who have difficulties in physical disability and spinal injuries. Based upon a previous study on a manually operated wheelchair, that has been modified to travel over a curb approximately 7 inches at the edge of a sidewalk onto the street, such as move from an upper surface to a lower surface. We propose to improve its design by eliminating shock created when the rear wheel of the wheelchair gets off the curb, it causes a hard impact to the wheelchair user. In this project, we design an attachment that can work on the rear wheel to absorb everyday shock loads and give a smooth ride to the user.
