The UDC Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management & Leadership is affiliated with the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance-a national alliance whose mission is to “strengthen the social sector with a talented, prepared workforce” (“Nonprofit Leadership Alliance” n.d.).

The mission of the Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership is to “prepare competent professional leaders for nonprofit organizations”.

The Program:
  • Prepares students for professional staff positions in nonprofit agencies
  • Provides current nonprofit professionals with knowledge and skills to advance their careers.


Certificate Admission Criteria
  • A baccalaureate degree conferred by an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 2.5 grade point average on a scale of 4.0
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A statement of academic and professional goals, research interests, and motivation

*Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required for acceptance to the Certificate program. Up to 9 credits may be applied to the Master of Public Administration (MPA). However, if the student decides to enroll in the MPA program, all the requirements for the MPA degree must be satisfied prior to registering for the fourth course in the Certificate Program. The remaining Nonprofit Management Certificate courses will be incorporated into the degree plan.

NPMG 534 Strategic Revenue Development 3 Credits
NPMG 535 Public Policy, Advocacy & Social Change 3 Credits
NPMG 539 Volunteer Management as a Human Resource 3 Credits
PMGT 539 Capstone Project 3 Credits
**Any Elective 3 Credits

Baccalaureate degree is required to receive certification through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and enroll in graduate level courses. 

UDC Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Students Association (NLASA) – participation is required.
