Graphic Communications Technology – AAS

The AAS degree in Graphic Communications Technology was discontinued by action of the Board of Trustees on February 18, 2014. The program is no longer accepting any new students; however, current students in this program will be able to complete their major as planned. Students who are currently enrolled in this program should meet with their advisor for further information.

Today’s graphic communication industry requires a full range of qualified people with skills that include art and design backgrounds, as well as those who have skills in technology. Today’s workers must be capable of designing publications for print, preflight and output files, operating networks, writing scripts, and designing web based and multimedia CD’s productions.

The Graphic Communications program is designed to provide students with an educational experience which focuses heavily on design and digital pre-press, with additional experiences in both press and post press production. The curriculum gives majors the opportunity to experience a full range of technical experiences such as print, multimedia and photography, management, procurement, and entrepreneurship. The program places specific emphasis is on technology and preparing students for the world of work.

In addition to the AAS and BS degree options, the program offers interested students a certificate in Desktop Publishing. The four year BS curriculum enables students the opportunity to concentrate their education with a number of educational options which include management, procurement, multimedia, computer IT, and photography.
