UDC-CC Innovation Challenge Reboot: Registration is Open (FALL 2020)

The Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Guardian®, is your chance to become part of the solution to economic challenges facing our communities.

With the current health crisis at our doorsteps we have been forced into a virtual environment for everything from school to health care and social visits. We also know that economics play a key factor in equitable access to broadband Internet services and make us keenly aware of the digital divide across the country, disproportionately affecting our black and brown communities. This is just one of many issues we could look to tackle together!

We are looking for student teams to come up with creative ideas to solve for economic problems college students are encountering, and to make things better. Register now to be a part of the Innovation Challenge.

What’s the Challenge?

Teams will be asked to provide ideas that consider the following:

  • What innovative products or services can help ensure college students can remain in school in the event of unplanned life events or challenges?

If a team is selected from the winning idea submissions, they will have the opportunity to pitch the idea in a virtual shark-tank to an expert panel at Guardian Life that will select the top ideas. Students on winning teams will be eligible to win prizes including up to $5,000 in a team cash award!

What’s Next?

Once you have registered, your team will receive credentials and be paired with a faculty mentor. Then it will be time to post your team ideas online.

Guardian will host virtual learning sessions to provide helpful background information on the challenge, instructions on how to use the challenge site, and share exciting ways to spark ideas. The deadline for idea submission is October 16, 2020.

For questions, contact us at Innovation@glic.com.

Let’s collectively use the challenge as an opportunity to create solutions that will benefit you and the college community.
