Activities and Accomplishments – Nutrition and Dietetics
On Friday, December 1, 2017, 5 students in the Master of Science in Nutrition program defended their thesis. Drs. Deksissa, Harrison, and Miner served on the thesis defense committee and provided feedback to the presenters. Lamya Aljamie presented, “Antiatherogenic Compound Analysis in Date Fruits and Seeds Using HPLC/DAD: A Comparative Study.” Bayan Babqi presented, “The Effect of Omega-3 Fatty Acids on Alzheimer’s and Chronic Disease Development.” Bushra Alsenani presented, “Effects of Sugary Soft Drinks on Childhood Obesity: An Evaluation of Educational Interventions to Decrease Sugary Soft Drink Consumption.” Manal Kordi presented, “Relationship between Caffeine Consumption and Academic Performance: A study of Saudi Arabian Students aged 18-30 years at a United States University.” Albatul Almushayti presented, “Assessing Pesticide Residues in Market Basket Samples of Fruits and Vegetables in the Capital City of USA Using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometry.” All passed with flying colors.
