The UDC Community Remembers Kenneth Baldwin, 2020 graduate of the Rehabilitation Counseling Program

Kenneth Baldwin - UDC StudentThe UDC community is deeply saddened by the death of Kenneth Baldwin, a 2020 recipient of a master’s degree in Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia. While we mourn his passing, we celebrate what he contributed as a graduate student to the classroom and training sites during his matriculation at UDC. Through education, he was unafraid to share his life story as a catalyst for understanding the truthfulness required to attain therapeutic authenticity in counseling. In 2019, he became a contributing author to a book that in many ways sums up his decades-long life journey, titled: Triumphant Overcomer. Here he shared his personal story of life challenges, and how he would eventually acquire the courage to face himself in an important step to overcoming feelings of powerlessness. Malcolm X said, “Education is a passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” Mr. Baldwin’s educational journey not only provided a passport for his future, but for the future of those colleagues and faculty whose lives he touched.
