Annual Math/Science Gift Store

The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area Network of Minority Women in Science (MWIS) and the University of the District of Columbia Biology and Chemistry Programs, S-STEM Program, and STEM Center for Research and Development sponsored the Annual Math/Science Gift Store at the University of the District of Columbia. This program provides children in grades K – 6^th the opportunity to obtain free scientific toys, books and other learning materials to use themselves or to share with family and friends. The Math/Science Gift Store was designed to introduce science or provide an opportunity for additional exposure to STEM areas to young children.  One of MWIS’s major objectives is to increase the number of minorities in science, and we believe this event can help to stimulate an interest in math, science, and engineering that can be further nurtured and developed if introduced in earlier age groups.
