Praxis® Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Tests assess the skills and content knowledge of candidates entering teacher preparation programs.  In the District of Columbia, all candidates seeking initial licensure must present passing PRAXIS Core test scores at the time of application. The University of the District of Columbia uses the Praxis Core tests to evaluate individuals for entry into teacher education programs.  Candidates are expected to achieve predetermined scores on the Core tests in reading, writing and mathematics by the beginning of the undergraduate junior year and before the start of a graduate degree program.  To help eligible students in UDC teacher preparation programs refresh their math skills before taking the tests, the Adult Education Program is sponsoring academic training and test-taking practice for 15 eligible students.  Priority will be given to students in the Adult Education program.

Training will be conducted in 2 Phases:

  • Phase I: 1 Face-to-Face Orientation and 5 online modules that feature lectures, notes, slide shows, videos, and online help from the instructor.  After each session, students will be quizzed on the materials, and will only be allowed to access the following week’s materials when they have successfully completed the quiz.
