One month ago the Speech-Language Pathology Program together with the National Speech-Langauge and Hearing Students (NSSHLA) had a flash drive collection of donations for families in need in Puerto Rico recovering from the impact of Hurricane Maria.  In three days we collected 250 lbs of canned and dry goods, toiletries, baby food, diapers, and batteries.

The supplies donated were taken to a central collection center in Chantilly and these left the US three days later as part of a humanitarian relief flight to Puerto Rico. Your generosity and kindness will hopefully reach those who need it most.

In addition, many who could not donate supplies made monetary donations that have totaled to date $506.62. These contributions helped us purchase 50 Luminaid solar lamps that will be distributed by Casa Pueblo, a Puerto Rican ngo. https://luminaid.com/products/packlite-nova-usb-solar-lantern-casa-pueblo

If you would like to contribute, please place your donations in a sealed envelope with your name and deliver to Ms. Weyni Demessie, our Speech and  Hearing Clinic Manager, 3rd floor, Room 306. We will continue to collect donations until Friday, December 15, 2017.

Our help is still desperately needed. Any amount is appreciated and will be submitted on behalf of our institution to help ameliorate the need in difficult to reach communities in Puerto Rico.
