WELCOME TO YOUR POSSIBLE

TMCF StrengthsSummer@UDC is a paid 6-week summer learning and leadership opportunity for students to gain access to educational enrichment, an extended mentor network, participation in a residential learning community, access to college and career success resources and thus gain a head start and advantage in their upcoming college and career journeys. Students will qualify for these paid combined summer academic enrichment and internships where they will prepare themselves academically, socially, and emotionally for the rigors of post-high school life. In addition to general studies, under the TMCF Strengths Summer participants will also be exposed to citizenship and resilience training, cultural immersion workshops and unique opportunities to participate in research initiatives and other innovative programs through TMCF.

The TMCF StrengthsSummer@UDC utilizes the BP10 to identify rising high school seniors and graduating seniors with high potential, and offers them comprehensive academic support, leadership skills, wraparound services, and a rigorous Gallup STRENGTHS based summer enrichment experience.  The program will imbue rising high school seniors or graduating seniors with strong basic soft and hard skills, as well as innovation and design thinking, team building, and STRENGTHS coaching skills. It will also expose them to the worlds of finance, industry and government.  The participants will be trained and deployed as mentors for subsequent participants and placed on leadership tracks on their respective campuses, if they choose to pursue a college degree. “This initiative positions the University of the District of Columbia as an innovator in identifying and maximizing talent,” said Chancellor Lewis Ferebee. “Through our increasing collaboration with the University of the District of Columbia, we are connecting more Washingtonians to academic and career success in the District’s and the nation’s thriving economy. This program gives students a head start on their pathways to the middle class.”
