MAYOR MURIEL BOWSER TO GIVE
KEYNOTE AT UDC FOUNDERS’ DAY CELEBRATION
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2022, AT 10:00 A.M.

Muriel Bowser, Mayor of the District of Columbia, will present the keynote address at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) annual Founders’ Day Convocation program, to be held at the UDC Theater of the Arts on the Van Ness campus on February 17, 2022.  The theme of this year’s program is  “Celebrating our Legacy, Creating our Future,” and during the ceremony, President Ronald Mason, Jr., will present Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton with a special award. Students, faculty, staff and alumni will also be acknowledged for their many contributions to the University, the District and beyond.

Attendees must register in advance for the event, provide proof of COVID-19 vaccinations and wear masks per the University policy. Individuals who do not appear on the registration list will not be allowed entry into the auditorium. The seating capacity is limited to 350 attendees to allow physical distancing between seats.

UDC Chief Academic Officer Lawrence T. Potter, Jr., Ph.D., said, “We are honored to learn from a local and national leader who shares many of the same ideals and goals of the University and is herself a lifelong District resident. Mayor Bowser is confronting many of the same concerns and challenges that UDC’s students, faculty and administrators are grappling with—and the District government has been a critical partner in our continuing growth and success.”

The event is open to students, faculty, staff and members of the larger community. Please use the link to register for the 2022 Founders’ Day Convocation.
