Welcome Mr. Stephan M. Byam – Associate Vice President of Information Technology

University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Stephan A. Byam as Associate Vice President of Information Technology. An innovative information technology strategist and tactical leader, Mr. Byram previously served as the University's Director of Business Application Development, a role he held from 2012 through 2016. "During my time away from UDC, I have amassed numerous accomplishments and experiences," Mr. Byam shared. "I am excited to bring those back home to the Firebirds." Recently, Mr. Byam served as the Chief Information Officer at Baltimore City Community College, where he secured the contract for and launched the implementation of an ERP system to replace the legacy system. His other notable accomplishments include the reduction of the eight repeat legislative audit findings to one, the expansion of the cyber security posture of the campus with the introduction of a cyber security awareness program and the increased overall responsiveness and accountability of the IT department. At LeMoyne-Owen College, in Memphis, Tennessee, he served as the Vice President of Information Technology/Chief Information Officer. He directed the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems to improve operational cost-effectiveness, service, quality, and mission development. During his tenure, he re-aligned IT initiatives and spending with outcomes for student success, business performance and institutional goals and set the College's course for information systems, IT infrastructure, and the integration of systems and business analytics to support evidence-based decision-making. Previously, he was Director of Enterprise Applications and Systems Operations at Howard University. He supported the University's financial management, human capital management, student information, customer relationship and learning management platforms; and led support for IT and enterprise applications, including Banner and PeopleSoft. Mr. Byam spearheaded Howard University's transition to its first cloud-hosted Student Information System and implemented the Institution's enterprise reporting tool and first queue management system. Mr. Byam holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Howard University. He earned a Certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University.
