2021 AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE (AAAS) MAKING AND INNOVATION SHOWCASE

Four of the UDC students – Ms. Leniqua Dominique Jenkins (MBA Student), Ms. Chevell Parnell (BS Biology, and Logistics & International Trade (LIT)), Ms. Grace Yepez (BBA Marketing and LIT), and Mr. Andrew Sammonds (BBA Finance and LIT) – presented their research and the competitive elevator pitch at the conference. The research mentor is Dr. Anshu Arora, Associate Professor of Marketing at the UDC School of Business and Public Administration. They competed with other Universities like Hampton University, Morgan State University, Jackson State, Bowie State University, North Carolina A&T University, Philander Smith College, and Tuskegee University. The UDC’s team name: ROB-I-LEARN – ROBOTIC INTERVENTIONS for LEARNING, and the project title: Developing Ethical Robots Engaged in Robotic Interventions for Students with Learning Disabilities. The conference venue was Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC. UDC team received special mentions (from judges from the US Department of Innovation, AAAS, US Science and Technology office) for daring to be a business school with a social-sciences focused research portfolio of social-educational robotics and participating in the STEM-oriented conference!
