Tony Hollinger Named Vice President of University Relations and Planning for the University of the District of Columbia

Washington, D.C. --- Anthony “Tony” Hollinger will serve as the University’s Vice President of University Relations and Planning. Hollinger will assume the established role of overseeing the University Relations functions of communications (including UDC TV), alumni relations and development. Mr. Hollinger’s expansive background and experience in business management will assist as he is further charged with helping to bring focus and structure to the assessment and planning activities critical to securing a strong and competitive future for the University.

In response to his appointment, Hollinger stated, “Having focused my education and professional career thus far on acquiring the best leadership and operations management skills I could with companies such as Disney and Comcast, I am highly motivated to leverage all that I can offer to enhance the University’s sustained achievement of its crucial service delivery missions.” He further commented, “I believe this is an especially significant period for the District of Columbia and its University. Key influential public and private leaders have stated commitment to making the University’s success a priority, and I’m proud to join the effort to achieve that.”

Acting President Stanley Jackson stated, “I am proud to have Tony join the University leadership team. He is well respected as a business leader, trustworthy partner and long-time District resident. Tony is joining in a critical role that will help ensure the University solidifies improvements made in both the administrative and academic operations.”

Tony recently worked as Vice President & General Manager responsible for the Comcast communications company’s DC market operations. Tony has held other management positions with Comcast in corporate planning and field operations. Prior to joining Comcast he was a Director of Business Development for the Walt Disney Company Attractions Group in Orlando, Florida. Tony began his professional leadership and management career as an officer of the U.S. Marines. Before resigning his commission with the rank of Captain, he received multiple commendations for exemplary service in the combat environment of Operation Desert Storm and as a Research & Development Project Officer working with Congressional staffers.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a second Master’s in Systems Science Management from the University of Denver.
