UDC to Host Nationally-Known “Ultimate Cheapskate” Jeff Yeager
Students will hear practical advice about money, happiness and our consumer culture.
(June 16, 2008) – The University of the District of Columbia will host nationally-recognized author, public speaker, and media personality, Jeff Yeager, presenting “Finding Wholesale Happiness in a Retail World” on July 2 at 10 am in the UDC Arts & Sciences/Library building 41, room A-03.
Yeager’s one-hour talk is based on his popular new book, The Ultimate Cheapskate’s Road Map to True Riches: A Practical (and Fun) Guide to Enjoying Life More by Spending Less, which tells how to live a happier, healthier and fuller life…but only if you’re NOT willing to pay the price.
The National Student Loan Program, one of the nation’s top student loan guaranty agencies, is sponsoring Jeff Yeager’s presentation at UDC. “College students are searching for ways to make their education dollars go farther,” says NSLP’s President Randy Heesacker. “We’re pleased to bring Jeff Yeager to campus to help UDC students learn his practical, easy ways to save money.” NSLP will rebroadcast “Finding Wholesale Happiness in a Retail World” on July 24 in a nationwide webcast featuring Jeff Yeager in a Q/A session following the presentation.
Yeager spent 24 years working as a CEO and senior executive with national nonprofit organizations in Washington, DC before launching his career as a freelance writer, public speaker, and broadcast journalist in 2004. He translated his experience as the self-proclaimed “Titan of Tightwads” in the nonprofit sector to his own personal finances to reduce his dependency on money, leaving him free to pursue his interests without inordinate worry over a paycheck.
The public, University of District of Columbia students, staff and faculty, as well as students from other colleges in the Washington, DC area are invited to attend.
