UDC’s Dr. Rachel Petty Tapped to Serve as Senior Dean and Academic Advisor for Faculty Engagement
Dr. Eurmon Hervey, Acting Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of the District of Columbia, announces the appointment of Dr. Rachel Petty to the position of Senior Dean and Academic Advisor for Faculty Engagement. Dr. Petty’s new responsibilities will include the establishment and coordination of University-wide faculty development programs. Dr. Petty will also function as the liaison to the University Board of Trustees Ad Hoc Committee on Faculty Engagement which includes review and approval of all faculty tenure and promotion recommendations submitted to the Office of the Provost. Additionally, she will also lead the Academic Dean’s Council.
Dr. Petty has more than 30 years of outstanding service as a faculty member, researcher and academic administrator. She has held the positions of Chair of the Department of Psychology and Counseling and Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs; and will continue to serve in her current position as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Petty’s new appointment is effective on April 16, 2008.
