University of the District of Columbia Announces Acting Director of Communications and Spokesperson



Thomas E. Redmond is the new Director of Governmental Affairs for the University of the District of Columbia. The Governmental Affairs office is responsible for providing liaison assistance and overseeing cooperative relations with the executive and legislative branches of the District of Columbia government as well as the federal government.

He has worked for the District of Columbia Public Service Commission as Staff Counsel, the Council of the District of Columbia as Staff Director/Legislative Counsel and Chief of Staff to former Councilmember Frank Smith, Jr. (ward 1) and Chief of Staff to the Director of the Department of Housing and Community Development. During his tenure at the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency, he served as Associate General Counsel, Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs, and Acting Executive Director.

Thomas E. Redmond holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Mississippi; a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School.
