This is to inform the University community of my decision to appoint Mr. Albert J. Casciero Dean of Learning Resources and Information Technology. The objective of this appointment is to integrate, under a single management, services that depend on new technology to support many academic and administrative functions. This is a trend that has proven efficient in higher education institutions and it should better serve the present and future needs of the University of the District of Columbia as we chart a new course. Combining under one umbrella the management of digital collections to support teaching and learning, the provision of user services to access such information, the safeguarding of our distance learning portal, the establishment of an enhanced student information and financial management system, with the technology infrastructure to facilitate all these functions is our aim. Mr. Casciero’s appointment is effective immediately.
