UDC STEM Center Student Fiteh Yelekal won the Charles H. Evans, Jr., M.D., Ph.D, award
Washington, DC: UDC STEM Center Student Fiteh Yelekal won the Charles H. Evans, Jr., M.D., Ph.D, award for Best Oral presentation at the Georgetown University Undergraduate Research Conference, April 8, 2010. Several local universities competed.
The title of her presentation was “Voltage gated sodium channel Nav 1.8 expression and anti-tumor activity of sodium channel blocker (R)-ICM-I-136 in human prostate cancer cells”. Fiteh is a biology major and was mentored by Dr. Deepak Kumar at UDC and Simeng Suy from Georgetown University.
