A message from University System of the District of Columbia President Allen Sessoms

Dear Colleagues and Students:

The past several days have had quite an impact on our city.  We are constantly monitoring the conditions in order to make the right decisions relative to our status.

As you probably know, another storm will soon be upon us, with a  winter storm warning taking effect this afternoon through tomorrow evening. As much as an additional 18" of snow could fall in the Washington area, according to the latest forecast.  Please take the proper steps to ensure you and your family are safe.  The DC Emergency Management Agency website has a number of helpful suggestions: www.hsema.dc.gov.

I want to commend members of our facilities crew who have worked so hard to remove the snow and prepare the campus to open.  I have been on site every day and am astounded at how well our teams are working.

I also want to thank members of our security department who have been on campus every day, making sure the facility is safe and secure.

We will broadcast our closing decisions as soon as possible.  Please continue to monitor www.UDC.edu and local media for updates.

Thank you, and please be safe.

Sincerely, Allen Sessoms
