Community College to Celebrate First Opening Convocation

Washington, DC - The Community College of the District of Columbia will celebrate its first opening convocation on Thursday, September 24th – with a ceremony on the campus of the University of the District of Columbia. Dr. Jonathan Gueverra, CEO of the Community College, will deliver the convocation address with remarks from DC City Council Chair Vincent Gray and UDC System President Dr. Allen L. Sessoms.

Dr. Gueverra will also present the new school’s logo and colors during the convocation, which will serve to celebrate the new educational opportunities offered through the community college.

The Community College of the District of Columbia serves the District’s residents by integrating workforce preparation, employability skill development, quality education and remediation, economic development and employer linkages, school-to-career—providing a seamless transition from K-12 to adult education and literacy to college prep—and continuous lifelong learning. This new institution is of great importance to DC citizens, employers, the University, and the District of Columbia.
