Washington, D.C. — The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is inviting its alumni, as well as friends of the University, to join students, faculty, and staff for Homecoming 2007 at UDC October 21 to October 29, 2007.  “Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence” is the theme for this year’s exciting line-up of entertaining and thought-provoking events and programs that will primarily take place on the University’s Van Ness Campus, 4200 Connecticut Avenue, N.W.

The University’s Division of Student Affairs, Office of Alumni Relations, and Student Government Association collaborated for this weeklong homage to the University’s rich academic legacy while charting a fresh course as the District’s only public university and the nation’s only urban land-grant institution.

Because the University of the District of Columbia is a composite of a diverse populace, so too will be the UDC homecoming celebration.  There’s something for everyone.  Highlights of this year’s homecoming include UDC Day at Church on Sunday, October 21, at 11 a.m. (St. Luke Baptist Church, 1415 Gallatin St. NW, UDC Alumnus Reverend Aubrey Lewis presiding, {please wear UDC Red}).  UDC poets take the stage on Wednesday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Poetry Slam, while steppers step forward at the 2007 Homecoming Step Show in the UDC Gymnasium Friday night, October 26 at 7:00 p.m.  The Homecoming Parade gets underway on Connecticut Avenue at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27 while a Red & Gold Reception” in the lobby of the University Auditorium Monday, October 29, at 6:30 p.m. preceding the Jazz Alive Concert at 8 p.m. wraps up Homecoming events.
