About Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a federally funded college preparatory designed to enhance academic skills and/or motivation.

Upward Bound is a year-round college preparatory program that provides high school students academic assistance, educational and career guidance and cultural enrichment activities. Students are expected to remain in the program until they complete high school. It is one of the several programs sponsored by the University of the District of Columbia’s Office for TRIO and College Preparatory Programs that encourage high school students to graduate and pursue a post-secondary education.

Services

  • Classes in English, mathematics, science, and a foreign language

  • SAT and ACT preparation

  • Academic, career and personal counseling

  • College Tours

  • Academic and cultural field trips

  • Financial aid and scholarship workshops

  • College application fee waivers

  • SAT and ACT fee waivers

  • Stipends
