Mr. Jared E. Moffett, M.Ed. B.S., C. - Director of Career and Professional Development Center
Mr. Jared E. Moffett serves as the Director of Career Services overseeing the Career and Professional Development Center at the University of the District of Columbia.
Moffett holds a masters of education in school counseling, bachelors of science in psychology and sociology, and certificate in child and family psychology from Frostburg State University. Additionally, he is working towards the completion of a doctorate of behavioral health with a clinical specialization and focus in weight management from Arizona State University.
Mr. Moffett brings to UDC over 15 years experience in career and academic counseling as well as educational leadership at both the higher education and
K-12 levels. Most recently, Moffett served as the Director of Career Services for UDC Columbia Community College in addition to being an adjunct professor in the psychology department. Before coming to UDC he was employed at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) as a coordinator of cooperative education/internships, assistant coordinator of counseling, career counselor, and student development department faculty instructor. In addition, Mr. Moffett worked many years in K-12 education with Baltimore City Public Schools as a high school guidance counselor specializing in school improvement for college readiness and vocational-technical programs.
Furthermore, Mr. Moffett has also counseled in the areas of mental and behavioral health as a Behavioral Health Weight Management Counselor, Addictions Counselor, and Mental Health Associate Counselor, and Counseling Psychology Intern at specialized weight management treatment centers, correctional facilities, health departments, and mental health clinics.
His career highlights have included the establishing the Cooperative Education & Internship Services office and authoring the Cooperative Education & Coordinated Internships Handbook for NOVA; managing two new Career Services Centers with both NOVA and UDC-CC; developing a Career and Student Development textbook; and creating career education courses such as Career Education, Special Topics: Declaring College Majors, and campus/online based cooperative education/coordinated internship courses at NOVA.
Mr. Moffett full-heartedly believes that championing for student success is the result of applying educational high impact and evidenced based practices as well personal commitment to being a dedicated professional, instructional leader, continuous assessor, educational advocate, collaborative bridge builder, and reflective ethical decision maker.
