Mission Statement

The Department of Accounting and Finance, in the School of Business, offers unique programs (BBA in Accounting and BBA in Finance) to students who seek the knowledge and skills required to compete in the modern global business landscape. The School is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

In addition, our BBA in Accounting program has been endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). Students attend courses, seminars, and gain hands-on experiences with current applicable accounting software that will acquaint them with the latest concepts in accounting. Students majoring in Accounting are required to complete 124 credit hours for graduation, of which 30 credits are in major requirements, 51 credits in ancillary requirements, including the Business Core, 37 credits in general education courses, and 6 credits in general elective courses. Accounting students who want to sit for the uniform certified public accountant (CPA) examination may double major in Finance to work towards the 150-credit requirements. Accounting students also have the option to add a Logistics and International Trade (LIT) concentration to their program of study. Scholarships are available to students interested in pursuing the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification.

Students in our BBA in Finance program are required to complete 121 credit hours for graduation, of which 27 credits are in major requirements, 51 credits in ancillary requirements, including the Business Core, 37 credits in general education courses, and 6 credits in Business elective courses. Through various experiential learning opportunities (e.g.: stock market simulations, field trips to the Federal Reserve, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and Chicago, etc.) throughout the curriculum, students learn and gain valuable experiences. Students majoring in Finance have the option to add a Logistics and International Trade (LIT) concentration to their program of study. Scholarships are also available to students interested in pursuing the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification.
