Scholarship Program

The University of the District of Columbia invites you to apply for funding assistance through our scholarship program. A limited number of UDC funded and endowed scholarships and grants are available. Students can apply for scholarships through one basic application.

The Scholarship Application Deadline for the 2008-2009 Academic Year is May 15, 2008.
Applications are available by calling the Financial Aid Office at 202-274-5060 or by downloading the application from the UDC website. A listing of scholarships is also available at the university website. Scholarships are awarded on a very competitive basis at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and may be revoked by the committee if eligibility requirements are not met and maintained.

Honors Scholarship: Awarded to entering freshman (recent high school graduates) with a minimum of 1100 on SAT or 25 ACT and 3.5 GPA or higher. Student is required to be enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program. Award covers tuition, fees and books.

Family Matters Scholarship: Awards $1000 per student to siblings who are enrolled full-time, simultaneously. Students must be in Good Academic Standing; four (4) scholarships will be awarded annually.

Graduate Student Scholarship: Awards $2000 to Graduate Students; Must show financial need (based on documented financial hardship). Open to all majors; two (2) scholarships awarded annually.

Transfer Scholarship: Students must have at least 32 credits remaining for degree completion; be enrolled full-time and have a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Grant is not available to Transient/Special/ Non-degree seeking students or to students transferring during a summer session: $1000 annual award.

Non-Resident Scholarship: Awarded to Non-District of Columbia residents with a minimum 2.5 CGPA. First preference given to Maryland and Virginia residents; four (4) $1,000 grants awarded annually (based on available funding). Non-resident athletes are not eligible.

Senior Scholar Award: Awarded to student over the age of 50 who are beginning undergraduate study or returning to complete an undergraduate degree. Must be in Good Academic Standing; $2500 annual award.

International Student Scholarship: International students who exhibit financial need (i.e., loss of sponsor support). Scholarship will pay up to $3000 in tuition and fees. Preference will be given to students involved in the UDC Community (Student Government, UDC student ambassador program, etc.). Two (2) scholarships will be awarded annually, based on available funding.

FAO Book Scholarship: Awarded to International students / Non-U.S. Citizens only. Preference given to students who are not eligible for other sources of funding. Four (4) $600 book scholarships are awarded per semester: One scholarship per student per semester.
