Digital Teaching

The Digital Teaching Certification (DTC) is an online, asynchronous, self-paced training program specifically designed to provide faculty members with a hands-on introduction to the essential functions and usage of UDC’s Learning Management System (Blackboard Ultra) and other learning technologies available within the UDC ecosystem.
The goal of the DTC is to equip faculty with the necessary skills to create high-quality learning experiences for UDC students. The estimated completion time for the training is 18 to 20 hours, although this may vary depending on the user’s familiarity with the technologies. Obtaining the Digital Teaching Certification (DTC) is mandatory for all UDC faculty members. To register, click here.

Course Design Essentials

Course Design Essentials is a self-paced, asynchronous training that equips faculty with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to create effective and engaging courses. The course delves into the art of designing clear learning objectives, structuring content, and selecting appropriate assessment methods to foster learner-centered environments for diverse learners. Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)

The APPQMR workshop trains educators to use the research-based Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric for evaluating Online/Hybird course design. Participants gain skills to assess course quality, focusing on design, engagement, accessibility, and effectiveness. The workshop covers best practices in online course design, including reviewing learning objectives, instructional materials, assessments, and course navigation using the QM Rubric.

Teaching Online: An Introduction to Online Delivery (TOL)

Teaching Online (TOL) is designed to provide faculty with an in-depth understanding of the fundamental elements of online course delivery. Throughout the workshop, participants will explore best practices for effective teaching in an online learning environment, gain insights into the roles of both instructors and learners in the online classroom, discover strategies for engaging and retaining student interest, and learn techniques for facilitating dynamic online discussions using discussion boards.

This workshop is conducted online (asynchronously) over a two-week period, requiring a minimum commitment of 10-12 hours per week. The course is offered by Quality Matters. For more information, click here, to register,  email david.serna@udc.edu.

Multi-Modal Educator

The Multi-Modal Educator Certification a hybrid training program designed to equip you with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality instruction in a HyFlex mode. This certification comprises two parts: asynchronous, self-paced training and a four-hour face-to-face session.

During the program, participants will delve into learning science, technology, and best practices. Once you are certified, you can submit a request to your Dean/Chair to teach your classes in the HyFlex mode. To register, click here.

UDC Assessment Fundamentals Training

UDC Assessment Fundamentals is an asynchronous, self-paced training developed by the Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (OPIE). It consists of five self-paced workshops. The workshops are aligned with UDC’s Cycle of Continuous Improvement click here.

Each workshop takes two to five hours to complete. Participants can engage in all of the workshops, or just select workshop(s) that are most relevant to their current assessment needs from the following list:
1- Develop goals and objectives
2- Design and implement activities and assessment methods
3- Establish benchmarks and targets
4- Collect and analyze data
5- Develop reports and implement improvement plans
