Short Biography

Sherali Zeadally received the B.A. and M.A. degrees in Computer Science from University of Cambridge, England, and the Ph.D degree in Computer Science from University of Buckingham, England, in 1996. Sherali Zeadally was a research staff member at the Advanced Communications Unit at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxford, England from 1992 to 1995 where he was involved in the design and implementation of high speed network interfaces and broadband multimedia applications. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered (No. 529071) with the Engineering Council in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), UK.

In March 1996, Sherali Zeadally joined the department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California where he was an Assistant Professor until August 1999. While at USC, he was also one of the principal investigators of the Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC) at the University of Southern California, an NSF Engineering Research Center where he led the networking research group from 1996 to 1999.

He joined the Department of Computer Science at Wayne State University in August 1999 where he was an Assistant Professor until January 2006. While at Wayne State University, Sherali Zeadally was the Founder and Director of the High-Speed Networking Laboratory. In 2001, he received the College of Science Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2003, he received a second College of Science Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2004, he received the University-wide President's Award for Excellence in Teaching (highest award presented annually by the University for Outstanding teaching).

In February 2006, Sherali Zeadally joined the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of the District of Columbia where he is an Associate Professor. In 2008, he received an Outstanding Faculty Award for Graduate Research from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia. He also received the Boeing Welliver Faculty Fellowship from the Boeing Company in 2008.

He is the Founder of the NEtwork Systems laboraTory (NEST) at the University of the District of Columbia.

In 2004, he received an Outstanding Recognition for his contributions to the International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) Society, Calgary, Canada.

His research has been funded by NSF, NASA, HP, Microsoft, Compaq, IBM, Intel, Sun Microsystems, Ixia Corporation, and others.
