Student Awarded American Society of Civil Engineers/National Capital Section Scholarship
Congratulations to Richard Barrett, recipient of the 2011-2012 American Society of Civil Engineers/National Capital Section Scholarship. Richard will be officially recognized at the ASCE/NCS annual banquet on April 10.
Barrett, who is from Jamaica, started at UDC in the Spring of 2010, after attending the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. He is the president of the UDC chapter of the ASCE and is vice president of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He is also secretary of the Caribbean Student Association, a member of the USGA elections board and a tutor for the UDC TRiO program.
After he graduates, Barrett plans on pursuing his master’s degree in either water resource engineering or structural engineering.
