Dr. Sandra Grady Yates Appointed Acting Dean of the School of Business and Public Administration
![]() | Dr. Sandra Grady Yates was recently appointed by Dr. Ken Bain, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, to serve as Acting Dean of the School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA). Upon his appointment of Dr. Yates, Provost Bain said, “We called upon Dr. Yates for her expertise, faculty leadership, and dedication to UDC to help insure the continued quality of stewardship at SBPA during this transition and appreciate her willingness to assume the role.” |
Dr. Yates, a faculty member in the Department of Management, Marketing, and Management Information Systems, has over 40 years of academic and administrative experience in educational institutions and business entities, including the following: Chairperson of the Department of Education in the College of Arts and Sciences for 7 years and more recently Chairperson of the Department of Marketing, Legal Studies, and Information Systems in SBPA. She also served as Co-Dean and Associate Dean in the College of Business and Public Management and Training Specialist, Senior Researcher, and Consultant for various government and private agencies. | |
Dr. Yates has served on numerous Boards and Councils, including the Board of Trustees, Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA; DC Mayor’s Advisory Council on Early Childhood Development; and the Board of Directors, Washington Middle School for Girls. For 15 years, she co-owned and co-directed a Child Development Center in the District of Columbia. Dr. Yates has been actively involved in many University-wide activities and currently serves as president of the Paul Phillips Cooke Scholarship Fund, Inc. and Member and Counselor (Theta Sigma Chapter) of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her service to the University and to the community. In 2012, she received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Mount Aloysius College. | |
