UDC School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) Students Participate in Congresswoman Norton's Annual Tax & Financial Services Fair
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Since 1981, UDC's SBPA accounting students have volunteered as tax preparers. These services are provided to moderate income wage earners in the District of Columbia and surrounding metropolitan areas during tax season. In 2009, the Tax Clinic became an authorized site, a distinction granted by the Internal Revenue Service. This is the highest distinction tax sites can have, which assures customers that they are working with expert tax preparers.
Each UDC accounting student goes through a rigorous training program. They are considered “certified volunteers” and are able to assist needy residents in preparing basic tax returns.
These students will put their expert training on display during the “Annual Norton Tax & Financial Services Fair” on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
