Gerald Lang - Board of Trustees
While at The Prudential Insurance Company of America (Jacksonville, Atlanta, College Park, Maryland and Baltimore, Maryland) he accumulated an impressive record of sales achievements year after year as a sales associate, sales manager, training consultant, district agency manager, and executive director, winning every sales award possible during his tenure at Prudential. In his last position at Prudential, he was a part of Prudential’s new Urban Marketing Initiative, and opened the Baltimore Urban Marketing Office (which he ran for 4 years before retiring). This new group’s focus was to assimilate Prudential’s people, products and programs into the urban neighborhoods to increase market share, and penetrate a market thought to be woefully underserved by the major insurance companies. Mr. Lang successfully achieved all of his objectives for the Baltimore office.Gerald Lang retired in 1998 from Prudential so that he could manage the U.S. operation of his daughter’s firm, INDE, Inc – a company that designed, manufactured and distributed upscale Italian leather handbags and other leather accessories. His daughter, Yalanda was the company’s president and was based in Milan, Italy. Mr. Lang served as senior vice president, sales and marketing and worked successfully to get the product line introduced in the U.S. markets in numerous upscale stores, to include Neiman Marcus. He assisted his daughter in all phases of marketing and promotion. INDE was sold in March 2001. Since that time, Mr. Lang has been active in several initiatives to assist organizations with their sales programs. Mr. Lang attended Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, Florida and has qualified for numerous insurance and financial licenses. He serves on the boards of The Children’s Law Center, The Metropolitan Community Development Corporation and serves as Vice Chair of The Kennedy Center Circles Board. He has been a Washington resident since 1986. |
