Office of The General Counsel

The Office of General Counsel (OGC) is the University’s chief legal counsel and represents the University of the District of Columbia and its Board of Trustees by providing high-quality legal advice to protect the Board and the University from legal risks and compliance pitfalls, coordinating judicial representation for the University and Board, and providing dynamic, responsive, and creative solutions to the University’s legal issues.

The office represents the University’s four main campus locations in matters before District and Federal Courts and agencies; advises all university managers on the wide range of legal issues that arise on university campuses, including Federal and District regulations related to employment and equal opportunity, scientific research and intellectual property, disability accommodations, Title IX compliance, financial aid, residence life, property management, District finance rules, tax compliance, leasing and zoning, contracts and procurement, Labor, international programs, immigration compliance, information assurance, Board of Trustee support,  legislative, University policy, and many other matters.
