Tuition Scholarship for Undergraduates
The UDCNAS Scholarship for Undergraduates is a Tuition Scholarship. The scholarship award amount will be equal to tuition and fees, not to exceed $2,000.
Applicants must be a graduate of a District of Columbia High School and admitted to the University of the District of Columbia or the Community College of the District of Columbia (CCDC); or a current undergraduate student at UDC or CCDC who is a graduate of a High School in the District of Columbia.
Candidates must have earned a 2.5 GPA or higher.
Candidates must write a statement (not to exceed two typed pages, single spaced in Times New Roman Font 12) in which he/she: (1) explains current professional goal; (2) demonstrates financial need; and (3) demonstrates involvement in the Washington, DC community.
Two letters of recommendation are required that support the candidate’s character and community involvement activities.
Candidates must participate in an interview process if requested by the UDCNAS.
Awardees must participate in one orientation/outreach activity for incoming students of the following year.
An application may be obtained in the UDC Financial Aid Office, UDC Office of Alumni Relations, and the 4.0 Organization.
- For 2011, all scholarship application materials must be received by the Scholarship Selection Committee by the end of business day July 30, 2011. Application material must be mailed to UDCNAS Scholarship Selection Committee, P. O. Box 70594, Washington, DC 20024-0594.
The Recipient must enroll for at least 12 academic hours in the semester immediately following the award. For 2008, the Recipient must enroll in the Fall 2011/2012 academic semester. The Recipient must provide official evidence of enrollment to the UDCNAS Scholarship Selection Committee. Upon receiving official evidence of enrollment for at least 12 semester hours, the UDCNAS Scholarship Selection Committee will credit the Recipient's account up to $2,000 within (5) five business days.
Any tuition refund resulting from the Recipient's withdrawal from classes must be returned to the UDCNAS Scholarship Fund.
- The UDCNAS Scholarship Selection Committee reserves the right not to award the University of the District of Columbia National Alumni Society Tuition Scholarship for Undergraduates in any year.
