WASHINGTON – April 25, 2012 — The University of the District of Columbia is among the many noted exhibitors and presenters to be featured at the 2nd USA Science & Engineering Festival Expo hosted by Lockheed Martin.  The festival is the nation's largest celebration of science and engineering, and it is set for April 28-29, 2012 in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

The University of the District of Columbia’s exhibit is themed in design and discovery.  Visitors will be able to engage with our students and faculty to try out robotics, forensics, renewable energy, life and health sciences, engineering design, and environmental science and sustainability including water quality analysis and taste testing.  The exhibit is open to the public on Saturday from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.  We will be located in Hall C, Exhibit 1106 in the Washington Convention Center. In addition, visitors can learn about our academic programs and career services at Booth 22 in the Career Pavilion in Hall A.  Now is the time to enroll in one of our many associate's, bachelor's, master's, or law degree programs, and earn your degree in the Nation’s Capital, taking advantage of the many unique opportunities for internships and special learning experiences only available here.

The University of the District of Columbia offers an array of science and engineering degrees, including bachelor’s degrees in biology, chemistry, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, information technology, mathematics, physics, and environmental sciences. Master’s degree programs are available in cancer biology prevention and control, applied statistics (PSM), water resources management (PSM), electrical engineering, and homeland security. At the associate’s degree level we have programs in computer science technology and liberal studies (with science or engineering concentrations).

The Festival Expo -- with its fascinating array of hands-on exhibits and stage shows, coupled with up-close interaction with renowned innovators, and top researchers and celebrities in science and engineering – is a free event, which has rapidly evolved into a must-see experience for families, students and others across the country and globe. The Expo, scheduled for the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, culminates a month-long series of Festival events taking place in April throughout the nation and in various foreign countries to encourage young students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

“We sincerely thank our Expo exhibitors, performers and other presenters for their valued role in the Expo’s mission to inspire the next generation of science and technology innovators,” said Larry Bock, Founder and Executive Director of the USA Science & Engineering Festival. “The Expo promises a fun and exciting weekend that allows kids, their families and others to participate in over 2,000 interactive exhibits and other activities, plus seeing more than 100 live performances by science celebrities, explorers, best-selling authors, innovative entrepreneurs and world-renowned experts” he said.
