Message from President Sessoms Regarding VA Tech
As you may have already heard, tragedy has once again struck Virginia Tech. A campus police officer and another person have been shot and killed on the Blacksburg campus.
As police continue to investigate these terrible shootings, I want to encourage all of you to offer your thoughts and prayers for the victims, their families and everyone at Virginia Tech. I also want to remind each of you to remain vigilant about suspicious activity on or around our campus and other locations. If you observe activity that makes you uncomfortable, please contact our office of public safety at (202) 274-5050.
Our university is a special place, and everyone deserves a safe and secure environment. Our public safety officers do a tremendous job under difficult circumstances, and I want to thank them for all they do.
In addition, if anyone feels the need to speak to a university counselor, I encourage them to call our office of counseling services at 202.274.6000.
My wife and I offer our most sincere condolences to the Virginia Tech family at this difficult time.
Allen L. Sessoms
