Join the University of the District of Columbia as it Celebrates Green Week @ UDC

Washington, DC - The University of the District of Columbia is hosting and participating in a variety of green events which will help raise the public awareness on how to incorporate sustainable practices throughout all aspects of our society.

“Green Week @ UDC allows the university to continue to fulfill its role as a higher education leader in the emerging field of sustainability,” said Dr. Allen L. Sessoms, President of the University of the District of Columbia.

Among the exciting events planned for the week are eco-tours of the university’s Van Ness campus, educational training for residents interested in learning how to protect our city’s watershed, and a public forum addressing the merits of tap water versus bottled water.

Green Week @ UDC concludes on Saturday, September 24 with the 2011 Green Living Expo on the UDC Van Ness Plaza from 10 am to 2 pm.

“Much like our investments in green lighting, recycling and green roofs demonstrate that positive change is occurring, Green Week @ UDC is an important milestone to measure how well we are serving both our students and our community,” Dr. Sessoms said.

UDC launched its Sustainability Initiative in August 2010 to expand and enhance academic offerings while preparing students for some of the world’s greatest environmental, social and economical challenges.
