2013 Results

We want to thank the five universities who joined the University of the District of Columbia for the First Annual Business Plan Competition; Howard University, George Washington University, University of Maryland, Salisbury University and Shenandoah University.

First Place
$3,000 was awarded to Salisbury University – Richard Baldwin and Lori Defnet who presented "Chesapeake Biomass Energy Solutions", a plan for a manufacturing company that creates an opportunity for the individual or small business to live a carbon negative life, with secured low fuel costs, from a reliable and renewable source of energy through a household fixed Pyrolysis appliance unit.

Second Place
$2,000 was awarded to the University of the District of Columbia – Francis Chipili, Melkamsew Ribbiso, Aissa Zagre, Cheree Lee and Vanessa Farley who presented "Community Impact Agri-Business INC" which will be an Agri-business based concept that will partner with small scale rural peasant farmers in Zambia through the formation of cooperatives.

Third Place
$1,000 was awarded to George Washington University – Anna Barrera who presented "NativeTourism".
