How to access the secure network

The UDCWIFI network only allows basic web access. In order to access secure resources (such as Banner, and remote files) wirelessly you will need to connect to the UDCSECURE network and authenticate using your computer’s operating system.

Note:This access is for Faculty & Staff only. Windows 7 instructions are shown below. Other OSs are not supported by UDC IT, although MacOS and mobile devices such as iPhones, and Android phones will work. If you have questions or have trouble connecting contact the helpHUB at 202.274.5941 or help@udc.edu.

Windows 7

If you are using a university issued laptop and logged in with your user account you will simply need to select the UDCSECURE network from your network list. After selecting the network your system will automatically authenticate you to the wifi. If you are on a laptop that is not university issued you will need to enter your username and password into the login box.

Step 1

Select the UDCSECURE network from your networks list and click connect. If at any point you are prompted for you username and password type in your UDC username and password.

Step 2

This is a security warning box letting you know you are connecting to a new secure connection. Click the details button for more information.

Step 3

You should see the radius server as firebirds-dc1.firebirds.udc.edu, or firebirds-dc2.firebirds.udc.edu. If you see another server listed here click Terminate and contact the helpHUB at 202.274.5941 or help@udc.edu. If either of those two are present click Continue.

Step 4

You are now connected securely. You will never be prompted again on this device. The connection will automatically be established when on campus.

If you have questions or have trouble connecting contact the helpHUB at 202-274-5941 or help@udc.edu.
