The Residence Life Staff provides information, guidance, direction, and programming to meet your housing needs. The ultimate goal of the Residence Life Staff is to foster an environment that supports each student's academic success and participation in the life of the University.
The foundation of our residential program is the RA position. RAs are members of a community of student leaders who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our residential students at The University of the District of Columbia. As mentors, RAs assist others in making university housing a place to call home. If you become a RA, you will be challenged but also rewarded in many ways.
Benefits of Becoming an RA
Resident Advisors receive a waiver of room charges. RAs return to campus a week before classes begin in August to receive intensive training in conflict resolution, crisis management, leadership, programming, counseling, and more. The experience of being a leader and helper among peers is often the most rewarding benefit of the position.
Eligibility to Become an RA
RAs at UDC are student leaders with at least one year of previous residential experience who demonstrate exceptional leadership and interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills. To receive full consideration for an RA position, applicants must have a 2.75 cumulative GPA and be in good disciplinary standing. Because of the academic demands of the Law School, first year Law students are generally discouraged from applying.
