It is a new day at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC)! Our campus is abuzz with a new vitality that is giving shape to a future that is bursting with promise and possibilities.
Since UDC was founded in 1977, it has embraced a spirit of vision, excellence, and pride.
Today remarkable growth is evident in every aspect of UDC life. Our university:
- Has more than 80% of faculty with terminal degrees
- Received reaffirmation of full accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education for Engineering, Nursing, Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education; along with English, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Music, Art, and History
- Recently launched a Master’s Degree program in Cancer Prevention Biology
- Was awarded full accreditation in August 2005 from the ABA Council on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar of our law school, the David A. Clarke School of Law
- Launched the District of Columbia’s first Early College High School program with a cooperative agreement with Friendship Edison Charter High School.
- Boasts of a diverse student population from more than 87 nations
- Touches the lives of over 28,000 DC citizens ( on an annual basis) by offering a wide range of courses and training, including DC Fire and Police personnel
