Mission:
The mission of the First-Year Experience Programs is two-fold:
1) Support our new students in the transition to becoming successful students at the University of the District of Columbia. 2) To engage all segments of the university in programs to increase retention rates of our First-Year Students.
At UDC we see the student's first year experience as an important step in the college career. Research shows that the foundations built during the first year are key to a student’s success. Students who participate in a first year program create important relationships that help them bond to their campus; thus, they are more likely to return as sophomores and continue on a path toward graduation.
