Visual and Performing Arts. It is an outgrowth of the FREEVOICE,
which was first published by the department in 1976. This website is designed and maintained by SLOAN BAKER.

Professor Olive
Vassell oversees the production of the FREEVOICEOnline and the FREEVOICE printed edition. Originally from London, she is founder and managing editor of Euromight.com, a multicultural pan-European news site.
Jordaania Andima, is the print editor and photographer for the Free Voice, is a senior majoring in journalism with a career focus on photojournalism. What makes a good story: A good story expresses itself in a way that an audience can relate and captures a specific moment in their everyday life that reflects the storytelling. Long-term goal: To become a photojournalist/television producer.
Sloan Baker, online editor for the Free Voice, is a senior majoring in broadcast journalism. What makes a good story: The things that make the world interesting. They are the things that people hold near and dear, the things that people would live and die for, and the consequences of those beliefs. Long-term goal: To become a communications attorney.
Derek Braxton, copy editor, a senior journalism major who enjoys writing. What makes a good story: A good story is one that has a heartbeat and presents a human challenge. Long-term goal: To be a professional writer for Hollywood and renowned creative writer and entertainer.
Richard Fischer, photographer for the Free Voice, is a senior majoring in journalism. What makes a good story: A writer who is able to capture the readers’ attention to the fullest and to make them feel the story. Long-term goal: To become am international freelance writer
Carlos Hernandez is a junior majoring in journalism. What makes a good story: A good story is a story that not only captivates readers, but leaves the reader with either a message, knowledge, or recollection they can translate to their lives that sticks with them. Long-term goal: To someday become a sports columnist for the Washington Post, and some day become a sports broadcaster for the National Football League. My motto: “Always keep the dream alive, shoot for the stars."
Ariel McRoy copy editor, is a sophomore majoring in journalism. What makes a good story: Something that grabs hold of the reader and does not let go. Long-term goal: To attain a master’s degree in Public Relations and work in that capacity for a sports team.
Joanna Preston, managing editor for the Free Voice, is a junior majoring in journalism with a passion for writing. Long term goal: To become a news anchor and/or a screenwriter.
Jonisha M. Tyler is a junior at majoring in journalism. What makes a good story: A good story lives in the readers' mind and engages them. It speaks to their senses and allows them to relate the story to their life. Long-term goal: To join the fashion industry as a fashion journalist or publicist for a major magazine like Vanity Fair, Bazaar, Marie Claire or ELLE.
Latavia Walston is a junior majoring in journalism. What makes a good story: A story that reaches the hearts of others, and states all facts correctly. Long- term goal: To become a beauty editor for Essence magazine.
