First time exhibitors as well as more advanced students will display their works in ARTitude, UDC’s 2006 Students Art Show beginning April the 12th. The opening reception will be held in Gallery 42, located in building 42 A-level from 5p.m. to 7p.m. The works will then be on show from 2-5p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Professor Daniel Venne, who teaches many different media, said that the exhibition showcases the artwork of students to the public. He explained that the process allows the families and friends of students to see their loved ones sometimes hidden talents. It is also a great way to boost the confidence of young artists by encouraging them to continue working vigorously toward what they love doing, Venne added.
The students all have one thing in common, they love art.

“I love art like I love a woman,” said Sylvester Felder, a junior, majoring in art.
Meanwhile, Dhalia Pierre, a junior, who is also an art major, said she found her talent as a teen. “I did not realize I had this ability until I was 16 and I decided to follow my desire. I really enjoy doing art.” Jessica Hopkins, a sophomore and art major said that she is zealous about the creative process especially drawing. “It motivates me when I draw,” said Hopkins.
“It is always a joy to see the works gathered together in a really impressive display of talent and craft, which we have labored on for all these months,” said Dr. Meredith Rode, Art Program coordinator.
