Randall Horton

In 1975 a new law, DC 1-36, authorized the consolidation of three schools. Forty years ago, in May 1976,  a new board of trustees took office consisting of 11 board members appointed by the Mayor, three appointed by the alumni associations. This began the monumental task of creating a new University of the District of Columbia from three very different institutions.

Thus the foundation was set to build an advanced public system of higher learning for the community of the District of Columbia where dreams begin.
