In this very competitive job market, our UDC students are looking for jobs and internships—and YOU might be able to connect them with the opportunities. Let’s forge a relationship to help recruit UDC students to work for your organization through UDC job fairs, the Firebird Jobs online job database or information sessions. To help a UDC student today, refer your company’s hiring managers or human resources department to our Career and Professional Development Center. Contact Katie Nailler, director of career and professional development, at knailler@udc.edu.

Together, Verizon and UDC Foster Scholars, Leaders

The “Verizon and UDC: Partners in Scholarship and Global Leadership Program” promotes high academic achievement, degree completion, post-baccalaureate education and career development to help UDC students achieve their professional dreams and contribute as local and global leaders. Through the program and grant provided by the Verizon Foundation, UDC awarded merit-based scholarships to seven students and created numerous opportunities to develop themselves professionally.

CAUSES Needs Proposal Reviewers

UDC’s College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences/Agricultural Experiment Station is asking alumni to volunteer to review proposals submitted for FY 2012 Specialty Crops Block Grant Program–Farm Bill. (Maximum proposal length is three pages.) The review panel’s orientation/training is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m. (place TBA). Refreshments will be served. Proposal reviewers will begin their reviews of two to eight proposals on April 12 and conclude by April 17. For more information, email caden@udc.edu or ishort@udc.edu

Leave Your Impression on UDC

We’re rebuilding UDC from the ground up and invite you to celebrate your connection to the University or commemorate a loved one by purchasing a brick or paver that will be placed on the new Founders’ Commons on Dennard Plaza. The ribbon cutting will be April 27. With several levels of giving and paying options, the Office of Institutional Advancement has created many affordable ways to support this important initiative that will beautify the campus and support students for generations to come. Check your mail for the Brick and Paver Campaign or go to www.udc.edu/bricks and reserve your brick or paver today!
