It was a bitterly cold day and snow was in the air when UDC’s caravan
of coats drove up, first to Ferebee Hope and then to Plummer Elementary
schools, in southeast DC. The coats-for-kids program—a joint venture
between Operation Warm (out of Chadds Ford, PA) and the
University—raised $4,686, enough to buy colorful down jackets for 275
very excited kids. Many thanks to Jason Green and his Jump Start team
who co-chaired this project with the Office of Alumni Relations. Kudos
to Tobeka Green of Communities in Schools and the entire UDC community
of students, faculty, staff, alumni and board members for their
generosity. See photo gallery on Flickr.
