Entrance/Exit Counseling

Entrance Counseling

All first-time borrowers from the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program at The University of the District of Columbia are required to complete an online Entrance Counseling session.  This federal requirement is to make the borrower aware of their rights and responsibilities prior to borrowing and entering into the loan agreement. Once the Entrance Counseling has been completed our office will receive electronic confirmation.  No loan proceeds will be disbursed to a student’s account until the entrance counseling has been completed.

Exit Counseling

All student loan borrowers are required to complete an Exit Counseling session prior to graduation, upon withdrawal from the University or dropping to less than half-time status.  The Exit Counseling will make borrowers aware of their rights and responsibilities in regards to repayment, payment options, deferment, and forbearance.
