Using Technology
Technology offers everyone ways to increase their productivity and learning. People with disabilities often find technology particularly helpful as an aid to full participation and independent learning.
Listed below are links to a number of University of Washington publications and online video presentations that provide useful information:
• Working Together: Computers and People with Learning Disabilities (http://www.washington.edu/doit/Video/wt_learn.html)
• Working Together: Computers and People with Sensory Impairments (http://www.washington.edu/doit/Video/wt_sensory.html)
• Working Together: Computers and People with Mobility Impairments (http://www.washington.edu/doit/Video/wt_mobility.html)
• Working Together: People with Disabilities and Computer Technology (http://www.washington.edu/doit/Video/wt_dis.html)
One very nice web page Assistive Technology for Computers and Printed Materials offers descriptions of various products and links to the sites where you can purchase the items described.
Here are two additional websites that can help you find the right technology and products:
• Assistivetech.net (http://assistivetech.net/)
• Closing The Gap (http://www.closingthegap.com/)
