Water Management: What can DC learn from Delhi?
A policy-oriented examination of the water management issues facing urban areas, derived from the experiences of Washington DC and New Delhi, India. The panel follows a morning videoconferenced high school debate between a DC Public High School team and a team from Sanskriti School, New Delhi on “water is the new oil” and “city residents should only use water a few hours a day,’ and the screening of Running Dry (USA/2005/55 mins.) a politically influential film on the problems created by dwindling global water supplies. Panelists include: Ashbindu Singh, Regional Coordinator, UNEP Division of Early Warning & Assessment - North America; Dr. William Hare, Director of the Water Resources Research Institute, UDC; Rich Giana Water Quality Director, DC Water and Sewer Authority; Dr. Abdul Hussam, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, George Mason University and representatives of environmental action groups.
